Sep. 21st, 2009 04:00 pm I'm in the mood for venting again, so please bear with me (or skip this entry, I won't hold it against you).
I'm kinda...upset over my history paper. Even though I shouldn't be, because it wasn't graded and it was only 1-2 pages anyway. I guess...it's because, despite all of my best efforts, I still take scathing criticism very much to heart. I shouldn't. It's probably bad for my health. But I haven't yet found a way around my initial reactions.
It wasn't even representative of my best writing. Far from it. I'm not used to the "open prompt" format of college writing yet, so I was blabbering on about irrelevant things, and since I haven't written a history paper in a year (two years if we're not counting only in-class essays), I'm way out of practice--heck, because I didn't know what to do, I started analyzing the text, which I know how to do really well from AP Lit. Yeah. Not a good idea for a history paper. (But I actually like doing textual analysis...maybe I should major in English instead of History?)
You know, I really miss high school. People can say what they want, but I truly value the education I gained through my high school and I really did have some amazing teachers. (And I believe that my AP Lit teacher understood the mindset of a teenage student much better than anyone else I've ever known.)
I also bombed my Chemistry quiz today (not helped by the fact I received my history paper just before taking the quiz). Go figure.
