So hypnotizing... @.@

So I started listening to the Hetalia x Counting Sheep CDs. I don't know why. They're kind of fun to listen to, though (with the help of a translation, of course).

Germany counts sheep by shouting at the top of his lungs: "ONE SHEEP! TWO SHEEP! THREE SHEEP!" XD

The translation makes it even funnier: "SHEEP #1! OVER THAT FENCE! SHEEP #2! OVER THAT FENCE!" XDD

America and Prussia also like to count by shouting and going as fast as possible, haha.

Belarus's is guaranteed to give nightmares....... O______o

Russia's is surprisingly pleasant to listen to. Although there was this part at the beginning of the bonus track, when Russia is "talking" to you--my Japanese comprehension is rather poor, but I'm pretty sure part of it goes like this:

"Oh, you can't sleep? Okay, I'll count sheep for you! :) But if my counting doesn't put you to sleep......kolkolkolkolkolkolkol......."

I've been out of the loop for so long I didn't even realize Funimation started releasing VAs for the Hetalia dub!

So I listened to all the voice clips, and I have to say, i'm pretty pleased with the dub so far; the only voice I'm a little iffy on is China's. I don't know anything about how "authentic" accents should sound, so I really like France, Russia, England, and Germany so far. Japan's voice isn't bad, either. America's voice is amazing, and Italy--OHMYGOD TOD HABERKORN AS N. ITALY IS SO EPIC. I wonder why I didn't think of it sooner; he's absolutely perfect for the role. :)

As for the script changes...well, honestly, I was a little surprised at first. I don't really mind it, though; I feel that the joking/satirical spirit of Hetalia is still there, if not further highlighted by the new jokes. One of my new favorites has to be Switzerland in Ep. 1: "Man up, Japan, or I'll beat you with my peace prize!" XD (There's also the issue of lip-syncing, which made sense after I thought about it.) I am surprised, though, at the negative reactions of some fans. Hetalia fans taking Hetalia too seriously? Talk about irony.

I've been underwhelmed by the Hetalia character songs from America's CD on, and same for all the second season Marukaite Chikyuus.

Eh.

Oh wow...this must be the most lol-worthy Hetalia song yet. (And I thought Pub & Go's "baka"x30 was a killer...)

I'm not sure how much I like the song for its music, but...AMERICA, WHY SO HILARIOUS, YOU???

"Hey you guys, uhoho! It's everyone's hero, America! Haha! All right, let's go to the...HAMBURGER STREET!"

Finally decided to download this doujin from the Hetalia comm (I've been a little scared of downloading things since coming to college, but oh well), and read it, and...

Oh. My. God.

I can't believe how original it is. The ideas, though they probably don't make as much sense historically, weave together to form an amazing story. Britannia for the win! (He reminds me of an author's note I read from a fanfic: "Nations don't build empires by being shy, retiring weaklings." XD)

Admittedly it gets a bit bizarre towards the end--I know England was in bad shape after WWII, but was he really that badly mauled? Still, in my opinion this doujin is all sorts of awesome (Canada gets a leading role, too!).

Okay, I'll stop blabbering now. And by the way...

WHERE IS AMERICA'S CD PREVIEW??? ARGH!!!!

Eh, I don't think this sort of post would be allowed in the Hetalia comm, so I'll say it here: I owe a huge thank-you to the Hetalia fanfic writers. There are some amazingly talented authors out there; reading their works both brought me back to creative writing after a period of disillusionment and continues to inspire me to try new things and push my limits.

OHMYGOSH SO WONDERFUL.

I've listened to them about a bazillion times and still I'm not tired of them. I am a *tiny* bit sad that the French is Japanese-ified (fraponais?) and unrecognizable (compared with, say, "Buono tomato" or "Einsamkeit" or "Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit"), but Masaya Onosaka's voice makes up for it.

(Ahaha...I actually took like five hours in total to transcribe the songs despite not knowing how to read kanji, that's how obsessed I am.)

The kiss at the end of "Rippa Yappa Pari" nearly killed me. XD

...So can't wait for America's songs in November (Hamburger Street, lol).

Hum, I spent less than an hour today learning the Cyrillic alphabet in my college's library. Now I can sort of read Russian (and the other Slavic languages that use the Cyrillic alphabet) (without knowing what anything means XD).

Since I ~~am clearly trying to put off writing my history essay~~ have some time, I thought I might try to write a personal Hetalia rant inspired by recent discussion topics.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Of course, after ranting about it to two people already, I have to rant to my LJ. XD

When I first heard them, I thought "Uh...." But after listening to them a few more times, I think they're starting to grow on me. (As the original song did. Haha.)

America is all...rap and rock. And his voice is now really high-pitched. It doesn't really bother me, though, considering it's AMERICA! (The annoying, obnoxious, hyper guy. XD)

France has gone opera! (Why is that so funny...?) With a chorus in the background. :D The accordion in the background makes his song sound really French, for whatever reason. It's just so...epic. XD (Got to stop spamming these XD faces XD XD)

At this point, England's is still my favorite, but America's and France's win points for making me want to burst out laughing. XD

Am I the only one who actually doesn't like England's CD cover? ._.

I find the angle a bit strange, I have no idea what's going on with his right hand, and...yeah, the main thing that threw me off was the strange angle England's standing at. It's like his body and legs are bent at 135 degrees from each other. @_@

Otherwise, I do like his outfit. Punk!England for the win. :D

...and NORTHERN ITALY, of all people?? The Marukaite Chikyuu

I already knew he voiced both Italies--already quite a feat--but this...

...I think I've found the god of voice actors. *bows down in awe*

America's VA also has some mad skills--compare America's voice to this one.
(And I just learned today he also voices Canada. O_o)

I will say, though, that England's VA, Noriaki Sugiyama, sounds pretty much the same no matter who he's playing. But in this case that's not necessarily a bad thing, as I love his voice. :D

Oh. My gosh.

I'm in love with England's songs already. Especially the second one--it's so silly, but so adorable. XD (Especially that laugh!)
Can't wait until England's CD comes out (in June TT_TT). I'm a bit sad France is after instead of America...but at least by then we should have France & America's versions of Marukaite Chikyuu ^^ (...But why are Russia and China so late?)

Also, I've fallen in love with the first of Japan's songs. I really love all the character songs, actually (and all the versions of Marukaite Chikyuu). All the voice actors are so talented--not only do they have awesome voices for the characters, they can also sing!

~~(I find it interesting that Hetalia is one of the few, if not the only, anime with all these extra songs and such...maybe it's to make up for the five-minute-long episodes?)~~

Edit: Okay, apparently lots of anime have character songs...they just never make it to the US, and as I usually follow dubbed anime, I had no idea. XD

Anime Boston was freakin' awesome. Since I'm going to college relatively nearby, I'm really hoping I can go again next year. Oh, and the Hetalia panel was AMAZING.
