My Anticipated Games for 2010
Feb. 6th, 2010 11:16 amBecause, for whatever reason, writer's block and being away from Crystal Bearers have made me very chatty about video games.
1. Super Mario Galaxy 2
The sequel to one of the best games on the Wii. What else needs to be said?
2. Zelda Wii
Assuming it *is* coming out this year (Aonuma said he's pushing for it). Will this finally be a Zelda revolution?
3. Epic Mickey
Combining Okami-esque interaction with the world with a good/evil character system and a dark version of the world of Disney cartoons. Intriguing.
4. The Last Story
From the creator of the Final Fantasy series, a new RPG for the Wii that's aiming for "a new kind of RPG" and has emotions as a theme. I want more information now! D:
5. Lost in Shadow
Looks like a unique platformer where you're a shadow and have the manipulate the physical world to traverse the level.
6. Golden Sun DS
A sequel to my favorite turn-based RPG? Hurrah!
7. Max and the Magic Marker (WiiWare)
Okami-esque drawing interactibility + puzzle platforming + World of Goo-like physics + unique art style = awesome.
8. Okamiden
Of course, a sequel to Okami is worthy of everyone's attention. My only fear about this title, though, is that it will be more or less exactly the same, gameplay-wise, to Okami. We'll see.
9. Arc Rise Fantasia
I remember being really excited for this game when it was released in Japan, but continual localization delays has made me less hyped. Sure, it's a turn-based RPG, but unlike Golden Sun, it doesn't have any puzzles. It remains to be seen how strong the story is, although I noticed there are no animated cutscenes except for the opening and ending; all of the character dialogue is presented using 2D character cutouts with some minor animations. Hmm.
At first, I was kind of excited for Sands of Destruction on the DS, but then I heard about the broken game difficulty and the narrative collapsing on itself at the end, so...I'm not sure. And I still have to get LostWinds 2, and now that Majora's Mask is available for download, I have to ask myself how much creepiness I can stand. GAH, why is this year so jam-packed?
