Sep. 22nd, 2010 10:05 pmToday was my birthday, which I spent running around to my classes and doing homework, haha.
I also tried to read George R. R. Martin's A Game of Thrones, and...failed. Sort of. I know Martin's series is considered great fantasy, but I also remembered hearing that this series (A Song of Fire and Ice) also had a lot of...unfortunate things happening to the protagonists. Plus, I must confess that, either because I'm a college student or due to other factors, I don't have the kind of patience for epic fantasy that I used to have. So I Wikipedia'd the plot, and...
...Wow. Beheadings, betrayals, and character deaths galore.
It does seem to me that Martin has a thing for putting his characters through hell a dozen times over (I got a sense of that in the latter half of Fevre Dream as well), but I'm not sure I can really stomach that kind of novel. Yes, I am really that squeamish/romantic/whatever you want to call it. (This is probably why I was never very much interested in medieval history.)
So, yeah, the moral of the story is...I am not worthy OTL
(On a side note, I finally got all 7 endings from the OASE demo. Muahaha-- *shot for wasting so much time*)
