29 pages and over 13,000 words later, I am done with my novella.
I worked on it like a possessed writer-zombie (who was high on listening to "Time" from Inception on loop) for the past weekend. Honestly, I have no idea what possessed me, because just before that I was suffering from crippling writer's block and felt like I had forgotten how to write. I started working on this because I was having a lot of difficulty with my 1920s WIP, and...well...somehow, it snowballed.
It's not exactly in a condition to be read by others right now; I had particular difficulty with the ending. I'm also still not sure what the title should be; I want to call it something like "In Search of Lost Time," but that sounds too much like Proust's À la récherche du temps perdu. So I'm still thinking about it.
But yes, I'm done! I am going to force myself to take at least a one-day break, and then start editing it. The last time (a.k.a. the first time) I wrote a novella, I ended up hating it during the editing process, but I'm fairly hopeful the same thing won't happen this time. Fairly.
