Goin' through another round of editing for RF. I've got severe writer's block for EK II, so that's on the backburner for now, and after I finish this round of editing for RF (which will hopefully make the manuscript SO MUCH BETTER, but I feel that I'm going to have to do a lot of reordering of events after I finish the writing itself), I'll probably have to stop writing for a while in favor of...real life stuff. Boo.
What was wrong with the draft: plot was a bit iffy. Whenever I read the draft, I felt that something was "missing", but I could never articulate what that was. Basically, it boiled down to: the Plague of the Passive Protagonist (again...argh) and Confusing Stuff Happening For Plot. Also, the Resistance wasn't doing much.
Target for RF is still 50,000 words / 100 pages. By my calculations, that should make roughly...a 200 page novel? Yeah, that's still kinda short by YA novel standards, but I guess it's long enough to carry the story.
I'm still hoping this project will be query-able, but from time to time some worries surface in my mind. Namely: (1) Is no one going to read a book about a college student? (2) Is all the stuff about my protagonist going to class and doing homework too boring?? (Sadly enough, that's what my college life actually looks like...)
