Entering a Brave New World

If anyone's been following this LJ, you might've heard me talk about the novel that I've been working on for the past 10 months or so, "Project E."
To be entirely technical, I'm not completely 100% satisfied with it in the sense that there are still some things I'd like to fix. But I've basically hit the point of diminishing returns in terms of edits, and my beta readers don't seem to think the problems are that major, so...I'm basically done.
Project E is basically complete at 80k words.
Now I'm starting the (intimidating) process of finding an agent. (If that doesn't work, I'll submit my novel to a smaller publisher.) While juggling my last year of law school. Urk.
One issue I have off the bat is...I'm not sure how to classify Project E's genre? It's science fiction, since it's set in the future with future technology and stuff, but aside from that, I'm not entirely sure what to call it. It's sort of genre-bending, with an unusual plot structure to boot. There's a mystery, but the mystery is resolved significantly before the end of the book. There are thriller/suspense elements, but I'm not sure it's a science fiction thriller/suspense novel, per se. (Maybe I'm just horrible at knowing genres outside of fantasy/sci-fi.) There's a romance, but I wouldn't call it a romance novel (I believe romance novels have to follow certain conventions...otherwise, romance is a pretty ubiquitous part of most novels, but only certain novels are labeled a "romance."). There's psychological...stuff. A lot of it. In fanfiction terms, you could call it "hurt/comfort," but as far as I know there's no official genre that corresponds to that.
I mean, informally, I would probably describe Project E most accurately as "a science fiction with mystery, action, romance, and exploration of the characters' psychologies." But that's hardly succinct enough for a query letter, haha.
