So I've always loved the idea of an Assassin's Creed set during the American Civil War, partly because I'm fascinated by the Civil War in general, and partly because I think it's fascinating from the Assassin/Templar conflict point of view. But once I started thinking about it, I realized that such a game would have to be...absolutely massive.

ACIII was already massive and, while it covered many of the major battles, missed some (Yorktown and Saratoga, I believe). It was also mainly focused on the Massachusetts/New York area...and let's not get into everything ACIII missed, because we'd probably be sitting here for days. (After all, Connor may be a one-man army, but even he's got to have limits when it comes to galloping around the country to help the Patriots...)

I was thinking that the main problem to setting an AC during the Civil War would be:

- Setting. The Revolution setting could still utilize cities like Boston and New York (and others that weren't in the game but were involved); the Civil War was almost entirely guerrilla warfare out in the wilderness. Yeah, the latest two Assassin's Creeds have featured nature/tree parkour more than cities and city parkour, but still. I suppose the setting would have to be mostly or all "frontier" (except obviously it's not the frontier by this point) and cover mostly Virginia, Georgia, and the Carolinas, plus Gettysburg and the Western Theater.

- On the plus side, there'd be plenty of opportunity for naval combat, I guess.

- I imagine the story would have to be heavily scripted, as with ACIII...

...Yeah, maybe this is harder than I thought. O_o
