EK I, draft 2: 60,000 words / 120 pages

I think--THINK--that the second draft is finally nearing completion. Yay! Although, it's really more like draft 1.9, because, once again, I've ended up with a lot of plot inconsistencies that I have to fix.

So, what changed between drafts 1 and 2?

- Major plot overhaul. I've been getting more and more excited these past few days, because some new plot twists were added in draft 2 that have made the story much more interesting. I think I'm also finally starting to get the hang of suspense and political intrigue...sorta.
- I think I've solved the passive protagonist problem. At least, I *think*.
- Some characters were added, and other characters have been fleshed out.

What needs to be changed between drafts 2 and 3?

Technically, I won't know for sure until I actually finish draft 2, let it cool off for a bit, and then attack it with a red pen. But here are my feelings so far:

- Some minor characters and antagonists still need fleshing out.
- I'm iffy about some plot points, still.
- The relationship between the protagonist and the antagonist needs more depth. They need more interactions and more flashback scenes.
- The protagonist's interior thoughts are examined in some scenes at the beginning and end, but they also need to be present in the middle.

At least it seems like I won't need a major plot overhaul, like I had to do between drafts 1 and 2.

Yesterday, I looked over the beginning of EK II that I wrote, like, ages ago, and I was insanely excited to begin writing the next chapter. Sigh. Some day, some day...hopefully soon...
