Project E: 74k words
...Okay, technically it's not a complete first draft because there are still a few small parts I haven't written because I got stuck. But this is pretty close to a finished first draft and I'll probably patch up the last few things in the editing phase.
So...HOORAY!!!! (??)
OH MY GOD. I have never written anything this long before. And I never would've anticipated that Project E would get this long. Usually I struggle just to make it to the 50k mark.
As far as I know, 70-80k is considered the "normal" length for a novel, yes? This means that, for the first time ever, I can actually focus on trimming/cutting, particularly because my fiction always expands during the editing phase. (And cutting comes easily to me, haha.) I don't want to get longer than 80k words because I don't want to run into problems in terms of the book's length dissuading publication. (I mean, I expect there might be other reasons why this book might not get published, but I don't want length to be one of them.)
Seriously, though, I have no idea how this book ended up so long! I still feel like most of it is dialogue and internal monologuing...so...I dunno.
