Blah blah, rant rant

I read a book called The Conqueror's Shadow a few months ago, which I rather enjoyed, so I was pleasantly surprised when I found out there would be a sequel, The Warlord's Legacy--albeit also a little puzzled. The Conqueror's Shadow is one of the novels that seemingly leaves no room for a sequel.
Recently I read a synopsis of The Warlord's Legacy, and...let's say I'm wary of the direction the story is going.
One of the things I really liked about The Conqueror's Shadow was its ability to take a Villain Protagonist who was Transformed By Love and make it NOT cliché and surprisingly refreshing. Lo and behold, in the sequel, said ex-Villain Protagonist is now estranged from his wife and children, and his daughter in particular hates him.
My reaction: "But...but...but..." :(
Moral of the story: People hate happy endings. :(
Second...
I should stop reading comments on gaming news. The people who whine about Skyward Sword's colorful artstyle are just immature. Part of what makes the Zelda games endearing is their charm, which was totally absent in Twilight Princess, that "dark" and "more mature" game (which is not half as scary as Ocarina of Time, by the way, and really bombed in the story department). I dunno, it's a little hard for me to believe that the whiners haven't been brainwashed by M-rated first-person shooters or something, because artistically Skyward Sword is far more appealing than Twilight Princess. Do people actually like drab brown and gray and black palettes??
