Scandal (ABC)
This show is actually getting better, but I still have no idea why they felt compelled to have a starcrossed love affair between Olivia Pope and the president. Sheesh.
Angelfall (Book)
I usually don't read books that aren't published the traditional way (at least, I think--I found it as an eBook), but I saw a recommendation for this book from Anti-Shur'tugal, so I thought, why not.
There's a reason why I usually don't read books based on recommendations, either.
First of all, I'm not a fan of post-apocalyptic stories. Secondly, I'm intrigued by angel stories, but most of the ones on the market right now frankly suck, so I've been wary of them. Thirdly, the initial setup of the book reminded me a lot of The Hunger Games: warrior heroine has a frail little sister, whom she's fiercely protective of, a useless mother, and a Disappeared Dad. The pacing of the beginning was excruciatingly slow, considering it was supposed to be a lot of action, and the description of the angels left me underwhelmed. The main angel character, in particular, sounded less like a warrior of God and more like a snarky, supernatural bad boy with a chip on his shoulder.
Eh.
